Being a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), with the Interlake Regional Health Authority for over two years, Mike's extensive medical background has been a huge asset for CANADIAN FIRST-AID TRAINING Ltd.
For the past 10 years, Mike's medical background stems from being a Medic in the military (Reserves). Mike also worked for Manitoba Conservation for about 8 months as a paramedic, but currently, Mike also finds time to teach others to become paramedics like himself.
Mike has been teaching first-aid in various capacities for over 4 years and has attained his First-Aid Instructor Trainer (FAIT) status for the military and other reputable training organisations. When teaching first-aid, Mike makes sure that the practical and hands on scenarios are as realistic as possible. He also focuses on techniques to work you hard so that you can really understand, just like a drill sargeant!
Mike's work history also includes him having worked at the Main Street Project (downtown Winnipeg) for seven years as a crisis worker and has worked alongside the Winnipeg Police Service and various other outreach services within the core of Winnipeg. Lastly, Mike has volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross for two years with the International ambassador for Youth Landmine Awareness Program.
Mike enjoys camping, hiking, being outdoors and spending time with family which has led him to also volunteer his time as a Beaver Leader for Scouts Canada for the past two years.
